For the second year, the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is hoping to make a connection between the Stewardship Youth Ranger program and summer co-op.
The Stewardship Youth Rangers provides an ideal opportunity for students aged 17 ( born in 1997) who live in the communities where the program is located (see chart below) to combine a summer MNR work experience and earn two credits by enrolling in a summer co-op program if available, as the Junior Ranger program has in years past.
* Rangers work in teams of 5 (4 high school students and 1 Team Lead) to manage projects related to natural resources and community projects.
* Students are transported to the park by a supervisor and return home at the end of each working day .
* If summer co-op programs exist in the community, students are encouraged to enroll. The MNR staff are in full support of their Stewardship Rangers participation in co-op and the course requirements.
Timelines:
* For 2014, Stewardship Ranger positions may be posted as early as February 1.
* Deadline to apply is April 11th.
* Employment opportunities are found in many communities across the province.
* The website lists the regions and the number of positions available in each region.
* Detailed program description, locations and guidelines for application can be found here.
